Sony has launched its dual-core smartphone Sony Xperia U in India. This smartphone comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS but the company has promised to release upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS. Xperia U is powered by NovaThor 1GHz dual-core processor with STE U8500 chipset and DB8500 GPU. If you want to pre-order and want this handset on your door step then you can prefer Flipkart which is available with price of Rs 17,399.

Sony Xperia U is powered by 1GHz STE U8500 dual-core processor with DB8500 GPU which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. The company has said to release the upgrade to ICS in second quarter of this year. This smartphone comes with 3.5 inches capacitive touchscreen With Mobile Bravia Engine with the resolution of 480 x 854 pixels (280 ppi pixel density).
Camera and Design
This smartphone comes with a primary camera of 5 megapixel(2592 x 1944 pixels) with 16x digital zoom, autofocus, LED flash touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama and image stabilization. The camera can record videos in 720p at 30fps. There is a secondary front facing VGA camera which can be use for video calling.
Sony Xperia U has dimension of 112 x 54 x 12 mm with 110 grams of weight and Touch-sensitive controls.

This Sony Xperia phone supports 3G, 2G (EDGE/GPRS), Wi-Fi with HotSpot, built in GPS with A-GPS support, Bluetooth 2.1 and USB 2.0 with on-the-go support.

Sony Xperia U comes with a standard Li-Ion 1320 mAh battery that can provide a standby time up to 260 hours(2G) and 472 hours(3G) with talk time up to 6 hours 36 minutes in (2G) / Up to 5 hours 36 minutes (3G). This handset can play music for up to 45 hours.
This smartphone houses memory of 512MB RAM with internal storage of 4 GB . Xperia U do not have any card slot to expands it storage.
